We are excited to announce the opening of the Greater Beveridge Children, Youth & Families Centre in October 2018, located in the Mandalay Estate in Beveridge.
The multi-purpose community centre will include two kindergarten rooms, two maternal and child health rooms, consulting rooms, kitchen facilities and multi-purpose rooms that can be used for youth services, life long learning and community activities and programs.
In 2019 we will be offering both 3 and 4 year old programs in our newly built facility . We are operating two 4 year old programs for 15 hours per week, allowing families choice between both long and shorter day options to suit individual needs. The 3 year old program will be offered over 2 days for a total of 6 hours per week.
The kindergarten facilities offer open, natural and inspiring indoor and outdoor spaces to encourage curiosity and learning for all children. We have an integrated teaching and learning approach, in that guided play and learning, child directed play and learning, and adult led learning are integrated and interwoven within the program provided for the children.
We encourage the children to be active participants in their learning through investigation, experimentation and discovery.
We aim to work in partnership with families and recognise that they are children’s first and most influential educators.
Applications for enrolment are being taken through Mitchell Shire council for both 3 and 4 year old programs in 2019.
TRY Greater Beveridge Kindergarten aims to create a welcoming environment that supports a sense of belonging to the community.
Our goal is for children to become confident and independent learners. We ensure that children feel respected as a valued member of our Kindergarten.
Learning environments will be created to support children to engage in play that will enhance a variety of developmental areas. Children will engage in experiences that will support their sense of security and identity, connecting and contributing to their world, strengthening social and emotional wellbeing, confidence in learning and recognition of achievement and becoming effective communicators.
The Early Years Learning Frameworks supports our play based learning approach that is driven by children and also recognises the importance of communication and language; and social and emotional development. The Early Years Framework has been designed for use by early childhood educators working in partnership with families children’s first and most influential educators. Establishing and maintaining close partnerships with families, and local communities are important to support children in gaining a sense of identity and becoming valued members in their own communities.
Our Quality Improvement Plan supports continuous reflection and is also embedded into our daily practices and to ensure children, families, educators and local community are engaging in a high quality learning environment.
In relation to staff, we acknowledge and respect the rich and diverse cultures that they may bring to our learning environments. Staff are encouraged to reflect on and critically evaluate their practice and build a strong culture of professional enquiry that enhances continual improvement of our Early Childhood Service.
TRY Greater Beveridge Kindergarten acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and play.
As we are a brand new service, the above philosophy will be reviewed and amended throughout the year, in consultation with families and all teaching staff.
