Information about kindergarten enrolments

Please check the listing for the kindergarten you wish to apply to. The kindergarten listing will detail the program offering, session times and fees. It is from the listing that you can begin your application process by selecting the ‘enrolments’ button.

Note that for the majority of services, 4-Year-Old Kindergarten applications are managed by your Local Council and you will be directed to their website during the application process.

Alternatively you can pick-up an application form direct from your service. Please note you will need to supply proof of Date Of Birth with your application.

Will my child get a place?

Following the submission of your application, you will be contacted by our customer service team who will confirm receipt of your application and support you with any further queries.

Places will be offered in the order in which applications are received:

  • Offers for the current year will be processed as applications are submitted.
  • Offers for the following calendar year will be sent to families in August-September.

Please note that:

  • children at risk, in out-of-home care, with additional needs, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island children will receive priority
  • for applications submitted through local council, your first contact from TRY will be your Letter of Offer if you have been allocated a place through central enrolments.

Accepting, deferring or declining an offer

Your Letter of Offer will include a Confirmation Form, fees and session time details.

We request that you confirm your intention to accept, defer or decline your offer by returning the Confirmation Form within 14 days of receiving your Letter of Offer.

When do I need to pay and how much?

Families using TRY kindergarten programs will be expected to pay term fees (two weeks in advance of the new term commencing) with the exception of Term 1. Term 1 fees will be due on completion of your child’s enrolment placement documentation in November.

Fees vary by location and are reviewed annually, fees for your service will be indicated on the letter of offer.

Please note that TRY does not charge an application fee or collect a deposit to secure your child’s place.

Early Start Kinder:

Early Start Kindergarten gives eligible children 15 hours of free or low-cost kindergarten a week for two years before starting school. To be eligible, your child must be three by April 30 in the year they start kindergarten, and:

  • identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander OR
  • your family has had contact with Child Protection (or been referred to Child FIRST).
